We used Theremax(R) for our electronic base and designed a carriable variation for theremin instrument. Besides I use Steam Punk Style for design and made this prototyping.
It's a very different experience to make a prototyping instead a model. Why we build this Instrument is because we want to use (not only see) it. Then it needs quite another technic to build it. When making a model, we build something to present reality (in an imaged world.) But when building a prototyping we try to build the reality. Of course there are also something we couldn't accomplish in prototyping. By modeling we've to present the functions (which a model cannot provide) through the form, and by prototyping we have to finish the most functions, in which we've to sacrifice some fantasy (sometimes the pretty form or sometimes the crazy idea) and we may lose some power of presentation. It seems that we lose some spirit in Design if we prefer the prototyping. But that's because we as designer always try to give our fantastic views to products. The truth is, the user have also their own fantasy and views when using a product. And we can see them only when we build a prototyping and let user try it out. And that will be the spirit which we can only achieve in prototyping. Prototyping tries to reach the depth of the world not the height.

原型機製作與模型製作是相當不同的。原型機的目的在於使用,而非單純觀賞。因此製作時所需的技術也是完全不同的。在模型製作中,我們製作了一個東西來表現想像中的真實狀態;但在原型製作中,我們企圖去建造一個真實狀態。當然,有許多東西是在原型上無法完成的。模型中我們無法實現其功能,因此必須要透過形體來表現它的功能,然而在原型中,我們必須實現功能,而因此可能必須犧牲一些想像空間,比如一個更美麗的造型或是一個更瘋狂的概念。看起來,我們似乎在原型中犧牲了一些精神,但是那是因為作為設計師,我們總是想要在產品上給出我們瘋狂的想法。但事實是,使用者在使用產品時,也會有他們自己瘋狂的想法。而這些只有在我們將原型給使用者測試的時候才能看見的,也正是原型所能擁有的精神所在。原型所企圖達到的,並非世界的高度,而是其深度。
